Bergans’ philosophy has always been to provide functional equipment of the highest quality. We perform continuous product development working with skiers, climbers, mountaineers, adventurers and other experts. Our product testing is extensive and performed in close co-operation with all categories of users – from the "ordinary" man and woman to extreme users on expeditions where the equipment’s functionality and durability is challenged to the end. Bergans is still an important partner for the Norwegian Army and we are a valued supplier to police and military special forces in several countries. It is the unique knowledge we develop from working with such a variety of partners and customers that feed our innovation.
Bergans’ product test station is located at the summit of Gaustatoppen (1833m) near Rjukan, in the Telemark region.This is a unique mountain that rises a 1000 metres above the surrounding landscape making the climatic conditions at the summit extreme. Heavy icing, strong winds, low temperatures and extreme fog are all common.
